The Name

Eliza B's was once owned by - you guessed it - Elizabeth B.!

The Story

Amber came into Eliza B's the day before leaving for college in 2010. She and Elizabeth hit it off discussing bobbin threads on the backside of an embroidery that Elizabeth had done for Amber. Fast forward a few months to December... Amber came to work at Eliza B's during the Christmas rush! She did embroidery and worked the cash register. She would return to the shop during her college breaks for the next 2 years.

Upon graduating college in 2013, Amber became a kindergarten/first-grade teacher and worked in Durham, Chapel Hill and then finally back home in Charlotte. In March 2017, while teaching in Charlotte, she went back to visit Elizabeth at Eliza B's and worked a couple of days during her spring break.

Elizabeth shared with Amber that she had been trying to sell the business for several years. Amber suddenly wondered if buying the business from Elizabeth would be right for her. She crunched numbers, created spread sheets and convinced her family, friends and high-school-sweetheart/fiancé, Joe, that the business would be an excellent investment.

In July 2017, Amber and Joe got married. In August, Amber tearfully retired from teaching and set out for her next adventure. September 1, 2017 - Eliza B's was owned by Charlotte native, Amber Shealy.

Amber has been working hard at the shop with her incredible team of busy bees (and Peanut, her Silky Terrier) to create a joyful experience at the shop. It is now full of brightly colored gifts, a rainbow assortment of gift wrapping supplies and the best greeter in town (woof woof)!
